Valentine’s Day is right around corner! I still don’t have any plans, but it’s looking like Eddy and I will be celebrating later in the week since we both have work. It’ll probably be easier to go out after Valentine’s Day anyway since places get packed now on the holiday. Some restaurants even increase menu prices (crazy, right?).
Last weekend, I went thrift shopping at the United Cerebral Palsy Thrift Store on El Cajon Boulevard and found the perfect dress for Valentine’s Day! I saw it sitting on the rack and when I saw it was in my size I knew it was going to be mine. It’s a hot pink J Crew tiered-sleeve fit dress that goes about an inch past my knees. I love the classy fit and look of the dress and I need to find an occasion for it!
I couldn’t find this exact dress anywhere online to link but I was able to find similar dresses under $50. Shop them below! I also linked similar bags to the one I’m wearing and earrings (that you can’t see in the picture).
Honestly, this dress would be perfect for Valentine’s Day dinner or a Galentine’s Day brunch! It’s very festive and cheerful.
You know how how the color red evokes a more confident in you when you wear it? Well, I felt the same effect from this hot pink dress. I normally steer away from such bright pinks but I’m so glad I stepped out of my comfort zone and bought it.
There’s two ways to go with this dress. If you want to make even more of a statement, pair it with a statement bag and some bright heels. This is the route I took, I styled it with my bright red Kate Spade shoulder bag and Banana Republic suede red heels. This contrast was the perfect pop of color for my outfit.
However, if you want to help tone the dress down you can use lighter colors to go with it. You can wear the dress with some nude heels and white pom earrings. You can also put a black moto jacket over it and wear some black pumps. It’s really what you feel most comfortable in!
I hope you have a great Valentine’s Day! And to all my gal pals out there, Happy Galentine’s Day! You the real MVPs! And here’s a friendly message from one of the greatest Parks and Rec’s Leslie Knope!
