eNow a days there are so many options for subscription beauty boxes. I’ve subscribed to Fab Fit Fun (use my referral link if you want to try it), Ipsy and Play! by Sephora. Play! by Sephora is a $10 subscription beauty box where you get five sample-size products. It’s compares to Birchbox and Ipsy, but this is box so far is my favorite! Here is a round up of the products I got in January and my thoughts on them:
This cleanser is god-sent! At first, I’ll be honest I didn’t know what to do. The cleanser looks like a bar of soap but for some reason when I first opened it, I thought it opened up and that the inside had a wet pad where you wiped your brushes and sponge. It turns out, it’s more like a bar of soap made of charcoal infused with lavender. You use it to clean up your make up brushes and and sponges by gently rubbing it on them. When I tried it, the makeup came off easy and quick.
In the past, I’ve used EcoTools Makeup Brush Cleansing Shampoo to clean my makeup brushes. This blendercleanser though was a game changer! It was so convenient and simple. I loved the concept and will be looking into buying a bigger one once I’m done using this one!
I wanted to be a fan of this but it just didn’t work out. I applied it around my lips as a liner and after about an hour it started coming off. The color is beautiful, but it’s not long-lasting. I’ll have to pass on purchasing this one.
This facial mask is for hydration and revitalization. The instructions state to use it after applying moisturizer so after I showered and put on my skin care products I applied this mask. It’s a gel-like substance and dissolves into your skin. The label says to leave it on all night and rinse off in the morning for a dewy look. I tried this and I loved how hydrated my face felt but I didn’t think my face looked dewy in the morning. Either way, I’ll still use it for the hydration purposes but I wouldn’t say it gives you a morning glow.
OMG I love love love this product. I was so excited that I got this product in my box because I’ve been dying to try Drunk Elephant forever now. I used this cream at night after I cleaned my face and showered. I don’t know about you, but I’m a big fan of thick lotions. I feel like the thicker the lotion the more work it puts in! This cream was just that. Super rich and creamy like whipped cream (ha!). I felt like after applying this cream my skin felt more moisturized and rich. I’ll definitely be looking to buying this at Sephora!
I wasn’t sure what to expect from this product but I actually really like it. I put it on after removing my makeup and washing it. The consistency of it is like a lotion and it smells like citrus. I lathered it around my face and made a point to put extra on the darker spots on my face. I’ve got to admit it burned a little bit after applying it. Maybe I put it too close to my eyes? It’s supposed to be really good for exfoliating, preventing wrinkles and getting rid of dark spots. I’m still waiting on results! But so far, I like what I see.
I want to give this an honest review but I feel like I can’t. My hair is super long right now and I don’t think the sample was enough for all my hair.
I used both products and then added a little of my own shampoo > cleansing creme and deep conditioning hair mask > treatment butter. I didn’t brush my hair before showering to test it out and see if my hair would be super sleek and untangled after using the product. Normally, this will help me tell if a hair product is good or not my hair. The really good ones normally untangle my hair and make it super smooth and soft.
When I came out of the shower, my hair was definitely smoother but I still had a little detangling to do. I’d like to try this product out again and solely use it to make another review.
